Human rights are powerful tools for global progress. But for too long, our human rights frameworks have missed a key point: Living a life of health, equity, and opportunity in the 21st century requires access to energy.
In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a set of 17 environmental and humanitarian priorities to be achieved by 2030. The SDGs are wide-reaching and interdependent, from ending hunger to fighting climate change. Energy has a role to play in each of them.
