Mitigating Emissions
The energy transition is for everyone. Yet investments in renewable energy disproportionately favor wealthy nations.
By making renewables accessible in low-income countries, we can fight climate change and foster a brighter future for all.
Adapting to a New World
While low-income countries have contributed little to greenhouse gas emissions, they often suffer the greatest impacts from climate change. By introducing a reliable source of electricity in these regions, we can provide the tools to better withstand extreme heat, drought, and other climate events.
Building the Future Together
The climate crisis is a global issue, and the energy transition needs all of us.
SELF’s solar training program equips the next generation of solar technicians with the skills to install and maintain clean energy infrastructure. With a focus on low-income countries and communities, these programs bolster local economies and foster a more equitable energy transition.
National Solar Training Center
SELF worked with Haiti Tec to establish the National Solar Training Center, an institute that equips prospective solar technicians in Haiti with the skills to join the clean energy workforce.
Through the program, students gain access to economic opportunity, and Haiti gains local experts to help it expand and maintain its clean energy infrastructure.
