SELF is proud to announce that it was named as a finalist for the UN-DESA 2015 $1 million grant, Powering the Future We Want – Recognizing Innovative Practices in Energy for Sustainable Development. The grant funds capacity development for energy-related projects focused on sustainable development.
SELF’s Solar Market Garden solution was showcased at this past Monday’s award ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
“We are honored to have been selected as a finalist,” said Bob Freling, Executive Director, SELF. “For twenty-five years, we’ve been working to eliminate energy poverty by using the power of the sun to improve people’s lives. Our projects can be replicated around the world.”
After the award ceremony, a seminar was held at which Jeff Lahl, SELF’s Project Director, presented a case study on SELF’s Solar Market Gardens in Benin.
